Lesson 1

Title: The Heart of A Godly Servant

Growing in the characteristics of godly leadership is a lifelong process. "Scriptural Principles Pertaining to the Heart of a Leader" offers additional study into other scriptures than what are covered in this lesson. We encourage you to make a project of carefully reading the sections of Scriptures in the materials provided below and answering the questions. As you do, you will see how the Bible offers great insight into the thinking of humans versus the thinking of God.

Lesson 2

Title: Pride vs. Humility: The Attitude of a Leader

In Proverbs 6:16-19 God lists six attributes that He hates. Notice that pride is one of the six mentioned. Does this sin stand alone, or can the sin of pride contribute to the other five sins listed there? Why does God hate this sin so much?

Lesson 3

Title: Christian Priorities in Life

There is so much contained in the words of Jesus when He instructed His disciples on how to pray. Praying for the Kingdom of God to come encompasses a massive request, considering all that will happen to and soon after Jesus Christ appears. It's no different when it comes to Christians prioritizing their lives. Like prayer, correctly prioritizing should be a daily routine of preparation and implementation—a way of life.

Lesson 4

Title: Pitfalls of Service

When we study the subject of service, we will see a great number of scriptures that deal with service to the Church. Take note of the right ways of serving. Note the blessings that are achieved when service is done in a right way. Also take note of pitfalls and things to avoid, even in the area of service.

Lesson 6

Title: Godly Marriage and Family

The topic of marriage and family is a very important and broad subject. In this lesson several books are recommended because much of the content  (though not necessarily all) is quite helpful in underscoring the biblical principles in this lesson. Of course, Mr. Armstrong's book "The Missing Dimension in Sex" contains some essential spiritual insights on the subject of love and marriage and the God-plane relationship that it represents.

Lesson 7

Title: Mastering the Tools of Christian Growth

God has blessed us by providing each individual with spiritual tools that enable us to draw close to Him. And through His merciful help we are able to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In this Lesson 7, we cover the four primary tools which are Prayer, Bible Study, Fasting and Meditation. As we utilize these tools, God builds into us the heart and mind of the true Master Builder Jesus Christ.

Lesson 8

Title: The Development of Sound Doctrine

The subject of doctrine is one of critical importance. Without an established doctrinal foundation, everything else we accomplish is of little value. We must ask ourselves, "If our doctrines are not correct, will anything else matter?" We must be willing to preserve the truth and we must not succumb to pressure to compromise the Word of God.

Lesson 9

Title: Giving Sermonettes and Split-Sermons

The old saying "Talk Is Cheap" is very true. People too often have a lot to say, but it tends to be of little or no value. Therefore we must never underestimate the importance of proper preparation and delivery of our Sabbath Messages. The Truth of God is a precious commodity and must not be used haphazardly or without proper thought and skill (2 Timothy 2:15; 2 Peter 3:16).
It takes years of preparation to be able to give good Sermonettes and Split-Sermons. We must be preparing constantly through Study, Prayer and Meditation to be successful. The most important aspect of our preparation is contact with God. This simple key will affect the way that we live, and in turn. the way we live will affect the credibility of our message.

Lesson 10

Title: Self-Examination — Taking Correction

In 2 Corinthians 13:5, the apostle Paul encouraged the Christians in Corinth to: "Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified."
Self-Examination is a vital part of our conversion process as we will learn in this Lesson 10.

Welcome to COGWA

Why do you go to church?

Is it for the relationships, the programs, the music, the worship? Those are all reasonable reasons. But the most important reason to attend church is to hear the truth of God taught directly from the pages of His inspired word “The Holy Bible.” Within the pages of that book we are given the answers to life’s most important questions. Why was I born? What does God teach us in how we are to live in order to achieve success and peace in this life and beyond? What happens to us after we die? These are merely three of the life altering questions God answers if we are willing to listen.

Following the example of Jesus and the New Testament Church, our congregation worships on Saturday and observes the annual Holy Days which are recorded in Leviticus 23. It is by observing these days that we more fully appreciate God’s plan of salvation for mankind and we prepare ourselves for service in the soon-coming Kingdom of God. If you would like to know more about us, I invite you to review our Fundamental Beliefs.

If you have an interest and would like to attend you are welcome. See our time and location of services. If you have questions or would like to discuss our beliefs I can be reached at either our services, by email (david.jackson@cogwa.org), or by phone (443) 977-9898.
