Paul addresses the churches in Ephesus and Colosse, and, by extension, all of us, saying, “Wives, submit to your own husbands...” Before we examine the directive for wives to submit to their husbands, do wives and husbands understand what submission is? Submission is not what most people think it is. The Greek word Paul was inspired to use for submit embodies a beautiful characteristic of Jesus Christ. Let us strive to understand what submission truly means and then examine this directive from Jesus Christ through Paul.
