Discouragement and depression in the life of the elderly are very real. “Depression in the elderly is associated with an increased risk of cardiac diseases and an increased risk of death from illness” — WebMD. “Comprising only 13% of the U.S. population, individuals aged 65 and older account for 20% of all suicide deaths, with white males being particularly vulnerable” — NIMH. The elderly absolutely become depressed, have physical disabilities, and need God’s strength and the aid of others to overcome. In many cases, the elderly have fought long, brutal battles of life, and those who are around to see them when they are elderly often do not know the history of their scars of endurance upon their body and mind or their faithfulness to God. But God has not forgotten! God will come to your aid!  Inspiration #8: God will come to our aid and give us the strength we need, even when we are elderly.
