Colossians and the Holy Spirit of God (Part 4) — Colossians 1:19-23: Reconciled in Christ

Colossians 1:19 “For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.“

This is another of those very powerful sentences by Paul that is just packed and overflowing with spiritual knowledge, wisdom and understanding. We can read a verse like this, as many people have over the centuries, and not realize that every word, every phrase, every concept in it is backed by doctrinal truth. With spiritual understanding, the entire Bible, including all of the writing by Paul, “hold together”. Paul called it “Spiritual Understanding”. Reconciliation to the Father is only possible through the blood of Jesus Christ. Paul lays the foundation of the teaching regarding reconciliation, then he explains our condition prior to being reconciled as being in the opposite direction – Alienation from God!
